Using the Bulwark in Your Adventures
The Crystalline Bulwark truly shines against foes wielding elemental magic. When an enemy tries to fry you with a fireball or shock you with lightning, you can use your reaction to drastically reduce the incoming damage. Better yet, successfully absorbing this damage empowers the shield, granting it a valuable charge. You can store up to three charges, each a potential burst of elemental retribution. Strategically, it allows for fascinating tactical plays:

Item Stats
Crystalline Bulwark Armor (shield), very rare (requires attunement) While holding this shield, you gain a +1 bonus to AC. Elemental Absorption. When you take damage from an acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder effect, you can use your reaction to reduce the damage by 1d8 + your proficiency bonus. If you do, the shield gains 1 charge, up to a maximum of 3 charges. The charges last for 1 hour or until expended. The shield cannot gain charges if it already has 3. Crystalline Release. As an action, you can expend 1 or more charges from the shield. For each charge expended, you can choose one creature within 30 feet of you. That creature takes 2d6 damage of a damage type that you have absorbed within the last hour (your choice if multiple types were absorbed). You can target the same creature multiple times with different charges.
