How to Use Eira at the Table

Introduce Eira through a warning arrow embedded beside the party’s camp. Its pale fletching carries a strip of cloth marked with two words: TURN BACK. Eira is already watching from the trees.

She works best as a tense ally or rival rather than a boss. Eira knows the safe paths and understands the forest, but she will test whether the party values truth, lives, and the land more than profit.

Her anger toward Borrik is justified but incomplete. Her arc is about deciding what to do with the truth, not discovering that her anger was wrong.

Roleplaying Eira

Personality: Quiet, precise, and fiercely protective of people who cannot protect themselves. She has little patience for boastful hunters or elegant lies.

Mannerisms: She checks each arrowhead with her thumb before a conversation, asks short questions instead of making accusations, and speaks softly to animals before setting traps.

Ideal: The wild is not innocent, but it is not disposable. Anyone who takes a life owes the world honesty about the cost.

Flaw: Eira mistakes certainty for strength, tests allies harshly, and can confuse justice with the relief of finally having someone to blame.

Wilds Warden Features

Wolfsblut’s Warning. Eira cannot be surprised while conscious in natural terrain and has advantage on Perception checks in forests, moors, and overgrown ruins.

Fettering Arrow (3/long rest). On a longbow hit, a Large or smaller target must succeed on a DC 13 Strength save or have speed 0 until Eira’s next turn.

Woodland Escape (2/long rest). As a bonus action, Eira moves up to half her speed without provoking opportunity attacks if she ends adjacent to cover, foliage, or an ally.

Plot Hooks

  1. Eira pins a warning arrow beside the party’s camp rather than attacking them.
  2. She asks the party to retrieve a locket from Briarhollow before Borrik’s hired hunters reach the ruins.
  3. A roadwarden hires the party to find Eira after she enters the forest alone on the anniversary of Rovan’s disappearance.
  4. Eira offers proof that Borrik lied, but the evidence also points toward a ritual that could save him.

Encounter Ideas

  1. Fallen Bridge: Eira blocks Borrik’s route while Graufell circles both camps.
  2. Blackthorn Trial: she tests whether the party can cross dense scrub without destroying the habitat.
  3. Final Ritual: Eira uses Fettering Arrow to stop Graufell from charging the ritual circle.
  4. Unwanted Alliance: she saves Borrik from Graufell, then immediately demands the truth from him.

Relationships and Location

Eira patrols the Blackroot Road, abandoned Briarhollow, and forest camps near the Graufell Wilds. Roadwardens and frontier families quietly support her work.

Rovan Wolfsblut: her missing father and the center of her search. Borrik Stoneantler: she believes he abandoned Rovan and may now share the corruption he hunts.

Sivren Dornauge: mentor and surrogate father, though his silence about her bloodline threatens that bond. Leoric Bramwell: untrustworthy, but useful for tracing buyers of black-antler products.
